District Google Account

Announcement

On February 8 of this year, Vickie Vallet sent an email out to all district staff via Express, announcing the creation of Pasadena ISD Google accounts.
Subsequently, questions such as how to access accounts, what to do if you already made an account with a Pasadena ISD email, and what services are available have arisen.

Clarification

On thing we want to be clear is that Google is NOT replacing Office 365 or Outlook email; nor is there any district expectation that staff and students need to begin using Google. It is simply another tool that is being made available.

Resources and Tips

This Google Communication website is intended to help answer some questions and provide troubleshooting tips as we continue to roll out Google services. It is a work in progress! The link can also be found under the Innovation & Technology Handouts & Resources section of the district website.

Stop Windows from Looking Online for Drivers

Have you ever plugged in a USB device, only to find that Windows insists on downloading the driver from the Web, even if your computer already has a compatible driver?

You can stop that from happening by following these instructions.

Installing Office 2016 for Home Use

If you are an employee of PISD, you have the option of downloading and installing Office 2016 (specifically the Office 365 ProPlus version) on as many as 5 personal computers.

WARNING!!!! - This install should NEVER be used on a district computer.
  • Installing (upgrading) to Office 2016 on a district-issued computer and while you are at school should be done through the Software Center.
  • Ask your campus technology liaison or call the Help Desk (x70260) if you need information about installing this at school.

Here are instructions if needed for installing Office 365 ProPlus version of Office 2016 on a personal computer:

  1. Go to  https://products.office.com/en-us/student/office-in-education

-- Click "I'm a teacher" - You should receive a message that reads: "You have an account with us"
    -- Click "Sign in"
-- If prompted, click "OK, Got it"
-- If you ARE NOT automatically sent to your Office 365 online account, continue with Step 2
-- If you ARE sent to your Office 365 online account, skip to Step 7
  2. Go to login.microsoftonline.com
    • You can also get to this link by going to the PISD Portal and clicking Office 365 tile
    • Or go to the PISD Home Page, hover over Staff and click District Email/Office 365
  3. Enter your PISD email address
  4. Click Sign In
  5. Enter your PISD network password
  6. Click Sign In
  7. Go to your email (if you aren’t already there)
  8. At the top right, click the Settings Button (looks like a gear)
  9. Click Office 365 near the bottom
  10. Click Software
WARNING! – This should not be done while you are at school! It will not install correctly.

  1. Click Install
  2. Continue to answer the prompts to complete the install

Clutter Caught My Eduphoria Email Notifications!

Are you missing out on your Eduphoria email notifications and reminders?

These emails sometimes get caught in “Clutter”, an Outlook feature that quarantines emails that it "thinks" are spam or junk.

Here are instructions on turning this off:
